ProComSol Registers HART® USB Modem

LAKEWOOD, Ohio USA – ProComSol, Ltd today announced the HART Communication Foundation (HCF) has registered the HM-USB (HART Modem, USB). The HM-USB passed the rigorous certification program and has been officially registered by the HCF to meet protocol specifications. With a list price of $299.99 (USD) it is the lowest price registered HART modem on the market. “Registration with the HART Foundation ensures users that the HM-USB will perform in their application”, says Jeffrey Dobos, President of ProComSol, Ltd.

The HM-USB also meets industry standards for USB connectivity. The USB interface is compatible with both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 standards. The HART interface meets the HART physical layer specification HCF_SPEC-54.

The small size, lightweight, and durability of the HM-USB make it ideal for portable use. Most new notebook computers do not have serial ports, making the USB interface the only available way to connect to HART networks. The HM-USB also derives its operating power from the USB connection, eliminating the need for an external power supply, further adding to its mobility.

An easy to install Virtual Serial Port driver allows the HM-USB to be used in any Windows based application. The driver is included with every modem and is also available for download via the company website, www.procomsol.com. The website also contains an online ecommerce site.
